Balls Head Reserve
Balls Head Reserve is a unique experience in the sense that it’s like a true bush walk but then you come around a corner and there is the stunning view of the City & Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The tracks are easy to follow but there are few steep climbs. For the more adventurous, there are a few older tracks that are a bit overgrown leading to beautiful lookout spots. But make sure you are careful!
We started our walk at the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability. Here you’ll find a cafe, markets (held on the last Sunday of every season), a community garden, food garden, & a native bush nursery. So if you plan your walk well you can fit in a bit of breakfast or lunch.
From here we walked through the Coal Loader Centre & down a steel staircase towards the water. At present they are doing some refurbishment work on the massive Coal Loader Structure but you are still able to walk through one of the tunnels.
You don’t realise how large the structure is until you’ve walked through one of these tunnels. It’s just massive.
At the other end of the tunnel you’ll find the start of the Isabella Brierley track. We just followed this around till eventually we were on the Harbour View Walk which then led to the Midden Track. We finished on Balls Head Drive, if you follow it, it turns into Balls Head Rd & then into Bay Rd which leads you right to Waverton Station.
